The guestrooms have been newly renovated and all are ensuite. Single and twin rooms are available and all have tea and coffee making facilities. Along with breakfast, free parking is provided for guests. A bus stop is nearby and from Drumcondra it is only a 10 minute ride to the city centre. Esker is a Redemptorist Monastery in the West of Ireland, near Galway. Esker Retreat Centre and the Esker Youth Village can both be used as a base for travelling to tourist attractions nearby, including the Burren and its moon-like landscape, Connemara, Galway City ( 20 minutes by car), Clonmacnoise, the ruins of an ancient Irish monastery, or the Knock Shrine, just over one hour away. Or just chillax and stay around, in the beautiful grounds of Esker! And there are a great range of retreats and courses held in our Retreat Centre during the year. There will be a ‘Céad Míle Fáilte’ – a hundred thousand welcomes, for you. We’ll have the kettle on for you, when you arrive!
The Youth Centre is separate from the Retreat Centre and ideally set up for school and youth groups. We can provide meals for groups, or groups can self-cater in the Rambling House in the Youth Village. To the young who come here for time apart, or to reflect, or rest, or just to have fun, we tell them ‘Make yourself at home, like you’re in your Grannie’s !’ – hoping that their own Grannies have been really kind to them. We hope that, when you come here to Esker, you will grow, stand tall, discover your true self, and appreciate the gifts that are all around us and within us.
