Located near the colorful town of Karatu (otherwise known as 'Safari Junction'), in the the north of Tanzania, not far from Kilimanjaro Airport, St. Catherine's Monastery is within easy reach of Mt Kilimanjaro, safari parks and nature reserves. The monastery is managed by a community of hard working Benedictine Camaldoles sisters, who are more than happy to arrange a visit to a game park or to a local village to learn a little about Maasai and Tanzanian culture and tradition.
