The picturesque resort town of Taormina is sprawled precariously over the rugged slopes of Monte Tauro, close to the Mount Etna National Park and the famous volcano and a cable car ride from the heavenly beaches of the Mediterranean.
Rich in natural resources, history and culture Taormina has been ruled by Greeks and Romans, Arabs and Normans all of whom have left their mark on the town’s culture.
Casa Domus Nazarena is located in the heart of Taormina, under the stony Arch of the Capuchins, and rubbing shoulders with the ancient Church of St Anthony of Padua and the Teatro (theatre) Nazarena.
Most of Taormina’s famous sites and tourist attractions can be accessed on foot from the convent guesthouse, including the cable car, and an ancient Greek amphitheater with spectacular views of Mt Etna and the blue Mediterranean Sea.
Many of the convent guestrooms have lovely views over the rooftops and the sea. As an added bonus, private car parking can be arranged when booked in advance. When hiring a car to access Taormina please take into consideration the narrow streets and laneways and keep it small!
