A well located and serene getaway from this sometimes hectic world.
Operated by gracious, accommodating nuns, we found the monastery to be a very spiritual place and ideal for anyone wanting to spend some time in a religious environment. Guests are welcome to join the sisters in their daily services, but there is no obligation. We explored the tourist attractions of Rome and enjoyed the peace and serenity when we returned each evening. Not for party-goers!
The guesthouse of the (Tyburn) monastery is managed by a contemplative order of Benedictine Sisters, who are officially known as the Adorers of the Sacred Heart of Jesus of Montmartre, OSB. The order was founded in France in 1898 by Marie Adele Garnier (1838 - 1924) and has since spread throughout the world. In 2016 The Vatican agreed to open the 'Cause for the canonisation of Mother Marie Adele Garnier.'
The monastery in Rome was established in 2005, to start the foundation, which was a gift to His Holiness Pope John II in thanksgiving for the Year of The Eucharist, 2004 - 2005. The official inauguration was on 18 March, 2006.
In the spirit of monastic hospitality, the sisters invite guests for rest and relaxation, retreats and spiritual growth, with the opportunity for Eucharistic Adoration. The villa stands in a quiet cul-de-sac, near a bus stop and is in an ideal position for further exploration of the city.
