Very convenient and comfortable, all the amenities I anticipated, welcoming.
The location was wonderful with easy access to the Thames and the bus. Friendly staff. Well priced. The bed was too hard and the shower was too small. Breakfast was disappointing as it was mostly packaged. Compared to other services, the Good Night & God Bless fee was high. All things considered, we enjoyed our stay. It was an economical way to experience London.
An amazing place to stay, all staff were so helpful. Peaceful rooms and a great breakfast and oh so convenient to transport, Thankyou,I will definitely return.
Absolutely fantastic location…a peaceful oasis in bustling London (there’s even a lovely little garden in the back of the facility)! My sister and I stayed at Allen Hall this past July, as the final leg of our “grand tour” on a budget. The location in Chelsea was so very convenient, since you literally walk out the front door, take a few steps down the street, and can then stroll down King’s Road! From the time of initial booking (shout out to Paula, with whom I communicated for planning purposes), everyone running this facility was helpful, friendly, and courteous. Similar to many hostels, a continental breakfast was included. Our rooms were basic (mine was ensuite), without “over the top frills”, but who needs that when the whole purpose is to go out and explore London? There was also an area with a kitchenette on each floor, for those that wanted to prepare their own meals. The only drawback, if one is mobility impaired, is that there is no elevator in the facility (this was not a problem for us). One of the greatest advantages of Allen Hall was its proximity to public transportation routes, with the bus stops practically outside the front door. As a result, one can have access to a wide array of areas in London, as well as ways to get to the underground or train stations. We travelled to the Tower of London, Windsor Castle, Buckingham Palace, and more, with great ease (smartphone maps and a credit card can aid in accessing all routes and paying fares, as needed). Finally, an added plus for me (as a history teacher), was the background of Allen Hall, as it was built on property formerly owned by Sir Thomas More…the history of the ownership of the property is pretty fascinating! This is a great place for all travelers, whether traveling solo, or with friends and family!!!
My stay at Allen Hall was absolutely wonderful, all the staff were very helpful especially Paula. Accommodation was excellent as was transport. Thank you and I would highly recommend Allen Hall
Quiet leafy backwater in the midst of hectic London, a lot of boxes ticked for a 'budget' stay just off the Kings Road. One criticism though, no marmalade at breakfast!
The hospitality at Allen Hall is amazing. We felt as though we were coming home at the end of each busy day and appreciated the welcome from staff then being able to relax in the peaceful garden. Continental breakfasts set us up for each day and access to kitchenettes helped us keep costs reasonable in an otherwise expensive area. Having busses (including the night bus)at the door made accessing London easy. Walks along the Thames and through nearby Battersea Park were unexpected bonuses. It was lovely to have the option of starting some days with mass. The accommodation and surrounding area was safe. I cannot recommend Allen Hall highly enough and hope to visit again.
I was in london visiting a sick relative & was delighted to stay here. It was perfect. Reasonably priced & included breakfast. Will stay again if available when visiting my relative in future.
Marvellous stay at Allen Hall! Atmosphere of prayer and silence in the house, nice and clean rooms, very friendly staff and seminarians. Perfect lodgings in a quiet area with bus stops in the street and around the corner! Made a pilgrimage to St Thomas More and St JH Newman, saw innumerable interesting things in just a few days!
I stayed at Allen Hall with my daughter. We had a lovely room with big windows overlooking the pond and garden. Being right there in Chelsea was simply wonderful. We could easily take the Tube to wherever we wanted, just a short walk home. The breakfast was great, especially the Yorkshire tea, the cereal choices and the croissants with butter and jam. Everyone with whom we came into contact was so kind and welcoming, in the kitchen and in the reception area, and we really appreciated having a car ordered for us the morning we checked out to head to France on Eurostar. We will certainly stay at Allen Hall again, if we are ever back in those summer months. ???????? Thank you ????????
I was a guest in Allen Hall at a diaconate ceremony in the gorgeous summer of 1986 - yes - that long ago. So who I found it was open to overnighters I wanted to revisit and was not disappointed. Everything promised in the booking was honoured in terms of reception, accommodation & catering. As the song says: "Who could ask for anything more?" - Oh, and did I mention location? Thank you GN&GB & thank you Allen Hall.
My room was comfortable and ever so English. Loved the gardens. Adored the people at the front desk. They were helpful and kind and funny. They will make brilliant priests although all the women will fall in love with them.
Thank you fir the opportunity to stay at your historic property. We felt very safe and welcome. I find the price a little steep for shared bathrooms. The breakfast was lovely. The staff is fantastic! The little chapel is nice too! Thank you again it was such a good experience!
Absolutely enjoyed my stay at Allen Hall. It was just what I needed - peaceful, quiet, relaxing, and, more importantly, contemplative. I could not have asked for more during my stay. I'm glad I found Allen Hall, which I feel is a hidden gem in London. Many thanks, Emmanuelle
Thank you so very much to the wonderful people who operate Allen Hall. The beautiful location and your kindness made my short visit more enriched than I had hoped. God has surely blessed you with a wonderful environment of peace and you nurture that environment perfectly! Blessings!
Very pleasant stay. Very helpful young man on reception. Simple but comfortable room, and a good breakfast too. Only downside is the stairs to 3rd floor...if you have a big suitcase!
My staying at Allen hall was very very pleasant for the room, the people at the reception and breakfast, the position in the center of London. It 's sure I will go there again and I'll suggest to people going to London in summer. Thanks.
I was very satisfied. I would like to come back one time.
Inspirational stay with helpful people and a delicious breakfast served in a setting which lends to meeting wonderful travelers and seminarians from around the globe.
I love staying at Allen Hall! The staff are always so welcoming and kind, and the atmosphere is always lovely and tranquil, though in the center of London.
Always a great place to stay - quiet and reasonably priced. Rooms could do with a fan or Air Con. but otherwise perfect.
Good location, rooms and facilities; friendly receptionists; nice breakfast. Would recommend. Thank you!
Wonderful stay. Friendly and helpful staff and nice rooms. Location is fantastic as well!
The welcome was superb and the quietness in the middle of London was fantastic. The location was unbelievable, Great staff and great breakfast. Could not fault the accommodation.
Our family enjoyed a most wonderful stay at Allen Hall. We felt so welcome at all times, found even more comforts and luxuries than anticipated, loved the helpful staff, and slept soundly in our cozy, clean rooms. We are grateful for the hospitality, fun communal breakfasts, prayerful quiet places throughout the grounds, the rich history of the site.. The courtyard is a slice of Heaven amidst the bustling city of London and we were struck with just how nice the vicinity is. It was a unique priviledge to lodge here. We all wished our stay was longer and hope to return in the future.
A delightful location, comfortable room, and wonderful guests with whom to share breakfast!
I had a pleasant an comfortable stay, at Allen Hall. Highly recommended
We had a wonderful stay at Allen Hall. Paula was so kind and helpful. The rooms were modern, well equipped, and totally clean. Location was perfect for the event we were attending at Westminster Cathedral. Couldn’t have been more perfect.
Dear Good Night and God Bless, I stayed at Allen Hall for three nights in July..at the start of a VERY hot few days. I received a warm welcome (!) and was shown around. Windows in my first floor room were fixed open but a fan was provided and I had no problems sleeping , despite the heat. Continental breakfast was very generous and all staff and fellow guests friendly and helpful. Lovely chapel, garden and easy access to bus routes. Showers etc adequate and having a small kitchen for hot drinks and snacks was wonderful. I hope to see you next year! Thank you. Love and prayers Brenda
Delighted with our stay. Excellent location. Friendly staff. Will definitely be back.
Managed to secure a room before they closed for renovations. Perfect accommodation for a visitor to London. Look forward to trying out the new rooms next year.
UNFORTUNATELY THE ALLEN HALL BUILDING PROJECT WILL CONTINUE THROUGH 2025 AND NO RESERVATIONS CAN BE MADE UNTIL 2026.
Allen Hall is the seminary of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Westminster, and is located in the affluent, upmarket suburb of Chelsea, in central London. Allen Hall is perfectly situated to discover all the treasures London has to offer.
Allen Hall was originally the home of Henry VIII’s Chancellor, St Thomas More. The Mulberry Tree that St Thomas planted in the 1500’s still flourishes today in the seminary garden, one of the largest and most peaceful garden retreats in the area.
The guest rooms are fresh and well-furnished. Breakfast is served daily.
The centre is available for tourist accommodation during the months of July & August, only, whilst the seminary is on summer break. Rooms are reasonably priced for a property in such a prime location.
NO BOOKING REQUESTS WILL BE ACCEPTED IN 2026 AS THE ALLEN HALL BUILDING PROJECT WILL BE ON-GOING.
