We wanted an authentic convent B & B experience, and this is what we got at Casa Madre Nazarena. The gracious nuns manage the property themselves and are involved in everything that is going on. They treated us with the utmost hospitality. The gardens are a plus but the spotless rooms and spacious bathrooms were also a bonus.
OPEN FOR GROUP BOOKING REQUESTS ONLY.
Casa Madre Nazarena is the Mother House of the Congregation of the Daughters of Divine Zeal (La Congregazione delle Figlie del Divino Zelo) and is occupied by a large religious community. The sisters converted a section of the property into a comfortable guesthouse offering hospitality to tourists and pilgrims, which they manage themselves.
With a bus stop around the corner and a short walk to a metro station, the property is an ideal base for further exploration of the Eternal City. A peaceful garden provides the perfect environment for winding down after a busy day sightseeing.
The house is located near the Basilica of St John Lateran, one of Europe’s oldest churches (4th century) and to the Catacombs of San Callisto where pagans, pontiffs, martyrs and Christians are buried in 20 kilometres of subterranean chambers.
And if you like to barter, the festive Via Sannio street market is held every morning except Sunday in the shadows of St John’s Basilica.
