We were warmly and well attended to by the kind staff. Pleasantly surprised by the quality of the meals. True Italian cooking - tasty and generous helpings. Met lots of people who were not staying in the house, but who come here for a bite to eat. Its seems to be a very popular eating place. Rooms are not huge and there are steps, but the location and the cleanliness top class.
Can't beat the location. Steps from the Piazza Navona and everything a traveller could possibly seems to be within walking distance. Great cafes and hole in the wall shops nearby, safe accommodation, comfy beds, buzzy area and hospitable hosts. Breakfast was fine. No complaints at all and hope to return one day.
This is such a well located convent guesthouse that we were able to walk around the city without any trouble at all. The rooms are clean and well equipped and the house is close to shops and restaurants. Hope to come back one day.
In the middle of all the activity. Walk to Piazza Navona and everywhere in the centre of the city. Rooms are small but this place has everything a traveller needs. The sisters run a traditional Italian restaurant - home cooking and tasty. A few steps but they weren't really a problem.
Adjacent to the lovely old Church of Santa Lucia della Tinta (open on Sunday mornings) which dates back to the VI century, Fraterna Domus is situated one block from the Piazza Navona and lies in the heart of Rome's historical area, yet close to the Vatican on the opposite side of the River Tiber. The guest house is a simple, unassuming property providing clean, safe and superbly well-located accommodation.
Walk to the Pantheon, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain and many of Rome's famous tourist attractions. The Monte Brianzo is a narrow, cobbled street in a lively area of shops, street cafes and restaurants.
The nuns operate a public restaurant which is open for all meals, and quite often the local shopkeepers join the sisters for lunch. The food is basic, home cooked Italian fare with an emphasis on tasty pasta.
Overall, Fraterna Domus is a great choice for the budget traveller looking for an authentic 'Roman' experience.
TRAVELLERS WITH MOBILITY ISSUES: - Please be aware that the building dates back to the 13th century and has a number of narrow interior staircases (no elevator) which some people may find difficult to negotiate.
