Many things to do here for families. The ocean and beach is close by. Very large gardens and nice food. Children were happy.
The Sisters of Policoro occupy a large, well maintained building set in hectares of park-like grounds, on the edge of a pine forest and 300 m from the beaches (lido) and the clear, azure waters of the Gulf of Taranto on the Ionian Coast. Dolphins and other marine life are are often spotted in the bay and sea turtles (protected) nest on the beach each season. Access to the beaches are free and water sports equipment can be hired. Policoro castle is nearby.
The sisters manage a quiet and newly renovated hotel with modern amenities and a complimentary breakfast included in the price. The property is situated in enormous grounds and is of 4-star standard. The location is perfect for family holidays or for history lovers and culture vultures who don’t mind the odd bit of sand between their toes. Policoro was once an ancient city known as Heraclea (named after Hercules), established around the year 432. The ruins of the city are located in Policoro as is the National Archaeological Museum of the Siritide. The museum has been constructed within the site of the ruins of Heraclea (in Policoro).
The sisters offer a warm welcome to all tourists and visitors to the area.
