The location is amazing! This is a very busy guesthouse, probably due to its enviable location, but we had everything we needed and enjoyed swapping stories with other guests over breakfast. The staff are friendly and efficient and keep the interior in perfect condition. No complaints from us as we had a wonderful stay.
I travelled to Rome to explore the Vatican, St Peter's Basilica and the museums. I walked across the road and I was already there. I had difficulty securing a room here as the convent is so popular. However, it was worth changing my dates because the location can't be beat. Cannot recommend highly enough for anyone interested in delving into the legendary intrigues of The Vatican.
My mother wanted to stay close to the Vatican as this was not only a vacation but a spiritual journey for her. She was thrilled with the position as the convent is only steps aways from the basilica. Every evening mum would sit on the roof terrace and enjoy the views over Vatican City. The sisters were wonderful and made our stay one we will never forget.

AS 2025 IS A JUBILEE YEAR IN THE CATHOLIC CHURCH, THE GUESTHOUSE IS ALMOST FULLY BOOKED NEXT YEAR, WITH FEW DATES AVAILABLE UNTIL DECEMBER.
In what can only be described as prime real estate, the Istituto Maria Santissima Bambina is a spectacularly located within the Leonine Walls and across from St Peter's Basilica. Even more spectacular is the outlook from the convent's roof terrace which has such sublime views of the piazza, the Basilica and the buildings around the square, that a little 'Pope spotting' is definitely a possibility.
The nuns and lay staff offer an authentic, homely experience in simple but well-appointed guest rooms equipped with all necessities. All meals are available if required (lunch and dinner must be pre-booked). A well-furnished communal lounge/TV room, outdoor sitting areas and an impossibly scenic roof terrace are comfortable places to relax.
As the convent is located in the Vatican extraterritorial area of the Holy See, no tourist taxes are applicable.
