Map - St. Winefride's Guest House
More Information
According to the legend, a natural spring erupted at the place where St Winefride was beheaded for resisting the advances of an admirer. She was later restored to life through prayer and henceforth devoted her life to God. In the 16th century a chapel was constructed around the spring, now aptly named St Winefride's Well.

St Winifred's Well has been an important place of pilgrimage since the Middle Ages, and is known as the 'Lourdes of Wales'.

The nearest railway station is at Flint which has direct connections with major British cities and towns, including London Euston, Cardiff and Manchester.

St Winefride's Guest House is located at the start of the North Wales Pilgrims Way, and is a recommended overnight stop. The North Wales Pilgrims Way follows at 138 mile long way-marked route (average 13 days) from Holywell to Bardsey Island.

Staying at St Winefride’s was ia life-changing event for me. This is a very special place. If you are looking for somewhere to reconnect with God, and further a spiritual journey, this is the place. The accommodations are no frills, but the bed was comfortable and the room was clean and they provided a lovely breakfast.

Holywell - Clwyd CH8 7LS

You will be greeted as a friend when you knock on the door of St Winefride's guest house in Holywell, a Welsh market town known for the 7th century St Winefride`s Well, the most famous healing Well in Britain. The Bridgettine Sisters, with their charism of hospitality warmly welcome all for holiday breaks, pilgrimages and retreats. The Sister's guest house is located only steps from the Holy Well.

While the sisters' first obligation is liturgical prayer and daily Divine Office, their guest house is an answer to the needs of the many pilgrims and visitors to the area.

The guest rooms are well furnished and homely and all have an en suite bathroom. Full board, half board or bed and breakfast are offered. The dining room is also available by arrangement for non residential groups.

Shops and cafes can be easily reached on foot.
